Fire Season Is Here!!!!!!!!!!!

Fire Season in PA

Our Fire Season in Pennsylvania is typically in the spring and fall of the year.

WHY?

Certain condition are necessary for a wildfire to occur

ONE...An available fuel source, such as grassland / woodlands.

TWO...Dry condition, including the fuel source.

THREE...An ignition source-some way for the fire to start.

The first two factors occur most frequently in Pennsylvania during the spring and fall. The leaves are off of the trees and the sunlight can make it to the forest floor, it warms / drys the fuels. This coupled with the fact that the winds in the spring/fall are often very strong and dry, leads to a tremendous amount of fuel ready to burn. The season mainly start in early March and goes into the middle of May until leaf out and again from October to November. Thought, we can have wildland fires at ANY time of the year.
